About The Bursary


The Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary is looking for students who aspire to pursue any commerce degree, along with an exceptional track record. If you've got your sights set on the stars and are willing to put in exceptional effort, you could earn a place on our high performance team. The bursary programme seeks to provide full support to well-rounded individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. In return, the bursary requires work-back commitment once their degree is completed.

Who Can Apply


Applicants should be well rounded and demonstrate character, leadership potential, and altruism. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged students.

Current Grade 12 Students

  1. South African citizens enrolling for full time studies at a South African university in 2025 (TVETS, private colleges, and community colleges don't qualify for sponsorship)
  2. Aspirations to pursue any undergraduate commerce-related degree.
  3. An exceptional academic track record that averages at least 75%.

Current University Students

  1. South African citizens enrolled for full time studies at a South African university in 2024 and 2025. (TVETS, private colleges, and community colleges don't qualify for sponsorship)
  2. Currently pursuing any commerce-related degree, and require funding as an undergraduate in 2025.
  3. An exceptional academic track record that averages at least 70%.

Required Documents


Please prepare the following documents:

    All Applicants: 

    1. A one-page statement clearly setting out why you have chosen your field of study and how you intend to use it after graduation
    2. One letter of recommendation from an individual who can speak to your personal character and/or your academic performance. This person should not be a relative or friend. Please include their telephone details.
    3. A copy of your latest CV
    4. Certified copy of your valid South African identity document
    5. Proof of household income (certified copy of SASSA docs or 3 months Payslips of parents/guardians) - Please attach affidavits confirming unemployment, if parent/s are unemployed [*]
    6. Have a Disability? Submit a Dept of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form AND a Doctors’ Letter [*]
    7. All certified documents must be less than 3 months old.

    Scholar in Matric

    1. Official Grade 11 end-year school report
    2. Official Grade 12 latest (Term 2) school report- (stamped) - With official school stamp
    3. OPTIONAL: A copy of 2025 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. - Official letter showing you've been accepted (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2025[*]

    Gap Year Student

    1. Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
    2. OPTIONAL: A copy of 2025 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. - Official letter showing you've been accepted (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2025[*]

    Undergrad

    1. Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
    2. 2024 Official Proof of Registration at university (for 2024 academic year) - Must be official document from university
    3. Certified copy of the latest Official academic transcript/s- For applicants that have enrolled at multiple institutions during their tertiary studies[*]
    4. OPTIONAL: Did you get funded by another bursary/NSFAS?; upload your bursary agreement/letter/offer[*]

     

For applicants under the age of 18, to comply with POPI regulations a signed consent form completed by your parent/legal guardian along with a certified copy of their proof of identity is required.
